Citizen journalism matters. It is the voices of real citizens about their own lives, communities and nations. Standing in contrast to the billionaire-owned mainstream media, we at Bylines Network champion the voices of everyday people and tell the stories that matter.
Since Donald Trump returned to power, we have noticed how mainstream media all too often poorly represents, or fails to capture, the real impact of what is happening in America. That is why we have extended our Bylines Network model of citizen journalism to our friends in the United States, inviting them to write for us without fear of corporate control or political influence. On this page, you will find some of our most powerful stories from America, published recently in our 10 UK national and regional publications.
These are experiences, fears, hopes, reflections and eyewitness accounts from the grassroots of American society. We’re proud to share them as a collection, alongside other articles that offer analysis to put the current crisis in context and ideas for a better future.
If you would like to join us as a volunteer writer from America, email info@bylinesnetwork.co.uk with an outline of what you might like to write for your first article. More information and advice can be found via our submission guidelines here.
This is news from the ground up – journalism by the people, for the people, and a living archive of impact. To support us, consider becoming a Friend of Bylines Network or subscribing to our Substack.
