Our articles are shared far and wide from our Bylines Network social media accounts, and we are always grateful for people who can help promote this.
Whether you can offer one hour a week to draft content, or can take responsibility for posting daily articles and increasing our levels of engagement, it is great to have a plurality of voices representing us.
If you would like to be involved in any of these areas, please contact your nearest editor:

Writers
Our authors are all citizen journalists who simply want to get involved in recording the events around us. They include politicians, students, stay-at-hcome parents, and experts from a wide range of professions.
Articles are always edited and fact-checked by our support teams, to make sure the published piece is up to standard and meets our house style. And final copy is always agreed with the author.
We welcome new writers to the Bylines Network, whatever your background and writing experience. All you need is an article idea and the time to write it down. Simply find the Bylines closest to you, and contact their editor-in-chief (see ‘About us’).

Editors and proofreaders
Our articles could not be published without our teams of editors and proofreaders. Many work in this field professionally, and volunteered their support to Bylines; others simply fell into this role based on their natural writing talent and attention to detail!
The work ranges from simple proofreading of a finished article, through to substantive or development editing for writers who need that extra support. The role also includes basic fact checking and means that our editors have to be on the ball.
We can help train volunteers in editing, give them sample pieces, and provide feedback on finished articles. To get started, all that’s needed is a passion for the written word.

The engine rooms
Some of the bigger Bylines can be very busy behind the scenes, with a steady stream of articles and other content coming through. But even with the smaller Bylines, the work never ends, as there are always more ideas to explore and improvements to make. If you’re able to assist with any of these core tasks, please do get in touch.

Video and audio
We are always open to new ideas when it comes to the range of media we use both within our articles and for reaching new audiences. Already, we have a successful Bylines Network podcast, where we interview a wide range of guests, and we have also been exploring the use of audio and video content.
